An Invitation for Inner Direction

September 29, 2024

Dear Reader,

It's been awhile since I've written to you. I've had some unplanned busy-ness: water leaks resulting in a complete plumbing overhaul, family things, and new opportunities prompting some deep inner reflection.

So today I have a few things prompted by and prompted for inner direction: a question, an invitation for next weekend, and a poem. They offer a few ways to reflect on your inner process, how you'd like to be in the world, and what is possible in life when we pay attention to growing connection to our innate heart qualities and cultivating life in alignment with Dao.

with gratitude for your beautiful hearts,

Steph

The Question

As anyone on a serious path of life cultivation may learn, this time spent focusing on the inside and cultivating this connection is a necessary part of growth. For me, it seems to be a time of speeding up while still maintaining this inner direction outside of a formal practice (and in the practice too of course!). It's also how I make life decisions – sometimes prompted by internal factors and sometimes external invitations.

I've recently accepted one of those invitations: the opportunity to help out as Communications Manager for Ren Xue International. So, considering this and my roles on the Norms and Ethics Council and facilitating Level 2 Teacher Training, I needed to spend a fair bit of time reflecting on Qi Writers.

Qi Writers is an exploratory circle where we practice Yuan Gong (normally a hear meditation), write, and share. I facilitate with a variety of techniques for going deeper into pattern and heart exploration and bypassing those initial mind based ideas.

What I decided was that I will not be able to give it proper attention this fall. Continuing in January may be possible in two ways:

1) The regular 6-week course; or

2) A monthly drop-in circle.

Both would be midday Fridays Pacific time if there is enough interest.

The 6-week option helps create a more cohesive container for sharing with time to grow in depth (process, sharing, and Yuan gong practice).

The drop-in option offers more flexibility and an easy way to try it out if you're new.

I welcome your feedback and input on whether either option at the new time would interest you. I'll use your input to decide how or if to continue in the winter when my new weekly rhythm is better established. Please just reply to this email.

Any Given Moment!!

We should never underestimate the impact one person can make to people around us...(Yuan Tze).

Each year, October marks a special Ren Xue community event: Global Awakening Day. This is a time to go inward - either on your own, with community, or both–to reflect on your intentions for the upcoming year and join in a special meditation to help uplift the world.

I'm not hosting an event this year, but I would like to draw your attention to two events that I will be attending. They both have an online option so you can attend from wherever you may be next weekend.

The first event is being hosted by Ren Xue Washington and the celebration includes an interview with Fiona. Fiona is a wonderful human who has made some leaps in realization and wisdom. She easy to listen to and normally provides some wonderful insights into life cultivation.

This free online event takes place Saturday October 5, 2024, 3-4:30 and you may register here.

The second event is being hosted by Marsha Moore and Sabine Goubau. This celebration includes a reflection on: What are we awakening to?

This free online event takes place October 5th, 9:00 - 9:50 am and your may register here.

October 4th marks the premiere of Any Given Moment on RenXueTV.

This is a touching and inspiring documentary (I saw a private screening last April). It shows the potential we all have to uplift our consciousness and progress into deep wisdom when we apply the wisdom teachings. You can watch the official trailer here.

A Poem: Inner Direction

~by Stephanie Ross

sitting in this soft world to listen

my senses draw inward

bringing a blanket of quiet under a night sky

inner trail lit with gentle starry glow.

I sit here _ not to lose myself

but to enter the place I truly live

to hear words of wisdom that often come

with images of humour only I can understand

to delight in the joy that there is

humour in this hard work too.

within this secret language between me and my Self

messages call for naked honesty, difficult change.

heart highlights actions I would not do

without this inner galaxy propelling me forward

to carry those movements into my day,

sometimes timid and wondering

yet willingness and fortitude learned.

clear there is truth in the asking, necessity

in the task beyond what I can see in daily life,

I move into courage with a sense of trust –

this__is the direction to take in the unmapped zone

What's Coming Up

Global Awakening Day

Every year, on the first Sunday in October, the global Ren Xue community gathers together in a very special Qifield to celebrate Ren Xue Global Awakening Day. All over the world, Ren Xue friends, teachers and practitioners find a special place to reflect and set intentions for the year to come.

Qi Writers

~ an online pattern exploratory circle.

Qi Writers is a sharing circle, patterns class, and small group (often a heart mediation) in which we also write.
It was inspired by my own Ren Xue practices, writing life, experience in writing circles and facilitating a variety of groups over the last decade.
